CONCERTINA
Concertina books use paper that is folded backwards and forwards to form a zig-zag pattern when stretched out.
To form the book, images were placed into a template on Photoshop and printed out. The book I made used landscape images rather than a square template as I thought the images that I selected would fit better into this template.
After it is printed, score lines are made ,using the cut guides on the page, and then a horizontal cut is made halfway through so that the two rows are separated.
Then I folded along the score lines to create the fan effect and with the two folds on the top edges of the pages, stick the two together so that the six images are in one row.
I think that concertina books works well to tell a narrative between a sequence of images.
JAPANESE STAB BIND
Stab bound books use individual pages with holes punched through them and bound together with thread. The stitching is visible on the outside of the book
I prefer this method of book making to the concertina book when using more collage based images as it has more of a zine feel which is what I am looking to produce for one of my outcomes.
